Do I have to switch the wires and connectors to the new ones as well or can I just replace the head unit and plug-in my existing cables and connectors from the 7.1 unit?

I have installed in my 2004 sl500;;no power to the unit I have wired per instruction. I have replaced the fuse. No luck
