Is this 100% compatible with a 2012 Ram 1500 and is that an exact vehicle choice in the software?
I just returned a unit that was the same model to Phoenix Automotive after months of trying to get it to work. They lied. They claim that their head unit was compatible with the 2009 - 2012 RAM 1500. It is not. When I checked what vehicle type they selected for the can bus integration, they selected the 2013 RAM 1500. If anyone had spent ten minutes looking up information on the can bus system of the Ram truck, they would have known very quickly that the can bus system was redesigned after 2012. The 2013, which they thought was close enough, has a completely re-designed can bus system with different speeds, different notes and computers that do different jobs for the 2013. The air conditioning vents were not the only change between the two years. So, I ordered that head unit in November, its mid-March and I'm pissed because I wasted all of this time trying to work with their "engineers" to get what they claimed to be compatible to work. Even worse, that unit caused my truck to have fault codes - U1147 and with the head unit plugged in, if I press the steering wheel display control down arrow three times, the head unit starts beeping loudly like crazy. So, I need to know with 100% confidence and certainty if this head unit has software that has the 2012 Ram 1500 listed as a vehicle type that I can select and have it integrate to a 2012 RAM 1500. The 2013 means nothing to me and I know for a fact that the head unit will not work properly if the 2013 was chosen as a "close enough" to claim compatibility. It has to have a 2012 RAM software or I will move on. Its better that I know now before I order this than you deal with me when I'm really pissed off, so say the truth, or better, send me a picture of the setting where it shows the car type and the display shows "2012 RAM 1500". If you can't send a picture, I'll move on and find something else.
